A DUPR, or Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating, is a global system for measuring a pickleball player’s skill level. It uses an algorithm to assign a rating between 2.000 and 8.000 based on match results, factoring in wins, losses, opponent strength, and score margins. The rating updates dynamically with each recorded game, aiming to reflect a player’s current ability accurately, whether they’re a beginner or a pro. It’s used widely for fair matchmaking in tournaments, leagues, and casual play, and it’s free to join—one match can get you rated.

Creating an account is free and 3.0 is considered intermediate, 3.5 advanced intermediate, 4.0 Advanced and so on. You can try to submit your own matches through the DUPR app or site, but from experience this is painful experience. The phone app isn't a full mobile experience and the website still requires approvals from all players. Another limitation is that only players that are in the group can submit the scores.
